Security News UK began in 2022, covering how important products and standards developed since the UK has had systems in place to help secure businesses and residences. This website is developed and maintained by two editors who each have a background in commercial and industrial security. Collectively, we have 12 years of experience with the equipment, tools, standards, and suppliers this website is cataloging. This has included everything from determining commercial fit-out shutters and grilles, to industrial site access control, to industrial site access control. Our site is dedicated to the buyers of this equipment. We noticed there was a lack of concrete information regarding standards on LPS 1175, Secured by Design, Sold Secure, and the applicable BS EN ratings and other standards. There is no other website that we know of that provides such a comprehensive body of work.
What We Cover
We focus on the four most important categories of security measures that really matter: the physical security of buildings and enclosures such as shutters, grilles, doors, gates, and barriers; electronic security systems that include surveillance systems, alarm systems, access systems, and intercoms; locksmithing and locking systems from residential to commercial; and perimeter and external defenses which include fencing, automated gates, and vehicle barriers, as well as security lighting. For each of these categories, we construct guides, comparisons, and reference the relevant standards. Our aim is to answer the questions we have had to research in the past.
How We Work
We do not engage in selling security products. We are neither a manufacturer nor an installer. We are also not a part of a trade body work. Our articles are based on our experience and research into standards, products, and suppliers. This is what we cover. If we cite a standard or a certification, we reference the source. If we share an opinion, we clearly write that.
